Hi, I'm Thomas, I live in London and I'm the creator of The Louche Monsieur, formerly Toramarra. The definition of louche is something distasteful in an appealing way; put 'The Louche Monsieur' through Google translate and 'The Shady Mr.' comes out. In fashion, the aim of creating art and architecture through clothing often results in (excuse my French) bat-shit crazy outfits that the masses would never conceivably wear... except we do. What we see on the catwalk, albeit subtly refined, trickles down through the high street till we eventually arrive at a simplified version of something many initially brand unwearably insane.
So are we really drawn to the tacky, the distasteful and the garish? I bloody am (and secretly, you are too. Go on, admit it!) On here, its really not an issue. Take the fun out of fashion and whats the point of it?
As well as TLM I'm also a contributor for Beauty Editor, founded by ex-Elle Canada beauty editor Michelle Villett, and I'm studying a degree in Fashion Journalism at the London College of Fashion.
