One thing about being a fashion blogger is that you have to enjoy it. If you set out to do it purely for the recognition you'll be sorely disappointed because there are MANY of us out there and the really high-profile bloggers (The Blonde Salad, Bryanboy, Adam Gallagher etc) worked for years to get their status. As such, blogs are a large chunk of my reading list, among all the many Vogue's and whatnot, and one I've discovered recently is Mr Blasberg (bit late to the game there). He posted this video on Monday of Mango, a 90's SNL character played by Chris Kattan, making his return to showbiz courtesy of Alexander Wang.
It also features fashionable cameo's from Behati Prinsloo, Missy Elliot's protégée Sharaya J and of course, Derek Blasberg. My favourite bit though has to be after Mango's monologue where he explains his return to the Male and Female Fashion Bloggers - "I stayed in hiding until someone from Alexander Wang came and told me that the world needed me, it was like getting slapped in the face with a giant Wang!" I'm not going to pretend that I knew who Mango was before this, especially since he made his first appearance when in 1997 when I was only one, but I've had a little bit of a Mango-YouTube binge and his appearance with Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon is DEFINITELY my favourite (the J.Lo one is good too!).
Plus, Sharaya J's upcoming song Shut It Down which is previewed in the video is completely stuck in my head. Alexander Wang, you've done it again.
