For my A-Level photography I decided to do fashion photography, which is generally hated by art teachers for being incredibly tacky. I chose to go a different route to the generic student photography fashion campaign, aptly described by my tutor as 'some shit girl in a back-alley wearing a trilby tipped to the side'. The CCTV surveillance works well juxtaposed against the airbrushed, traditional photo shoot style images at the end.
INSPIRATION
My other inspiration was Nick Knight's 1995 photoshoot for US Vogue with Kate Moss, using surveillance footage style camera shots. Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, released last year, is my favourite movie of all time. One of the best aspects is the cinematography which is totally Coppola in style and in particular I kept remembering the opening scene of the movie - its shot in CCTV style, with the Bling Ring breaking into a house and beginning their raid, set to Crown On The Ground by Sleigh Bells.
