When I saw this quote from Tom Wolfe I couldn't help but agree - "One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years".
Having no wifi for a week is really not ideal for someone as wired as me. Luckily I had plenty to distract myself with - the vibrant and iconic city of New York! I've literally been waiting for this trip for five months going on forever. NYC has always been an obsession of mine; the base camp of Sex And The City, the fashion capital of the world and home to Anna Wintours little magazine American Vogue, maybe you've heard of it?
For our first stop after getting off the plane and dropping our bags at the hotel we walked straight to Times Square. It really isn't something that photos do justice, though mine will have to do. I'd worn this outfit on the plane as well (apart from swapping my trench coat for the biker, foolishly thinking I'd be too hot in my trusty mac) and I wore something similar on the red-eye back because it was brilliantly comfy!
Times Square has to be seen to be believed. The diversity of the people as well as the mesmerising lights are an incredible experience. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially since the rumours about New Yorkers are totally untrue, they are some of the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating people I have ever met in my life. Expect many more posts like this to come, I have a few outfit posts from my trip I can't wait to put up.
Tom xx
