SOLANGE AND SJP WON THE MET GALA 2015

This years Met Gala, the biggest night of the year in the fashion calendar, hosted the worlds most iconic celebrities and society figures for the opening of the Costume Institute's exhibition "China: Through the Looking Glass". As is tradition, the dress code of the event reflected the exhibition, but who stuck to the theme and who didn't get the memo?

There are those who you can always count on to shine the brightest at events such as these, and favourites Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna and Lady GaGa didn't disappoint. Amal Clooney shone as the dancing red dress emoji in one of my favourite looks of the night, whilst Alexa Chung brought a fusion of Oriental East beauty with fresh Western edge.

Newsflash! Unpopular opinion heading your way - I really liked Bieber's Balmain getup. Along with Olivier Rousteing, the pair made quite the bedazzled stir on the red carpet. I'm shocked no one lost their vision from the flashbulbs reflection. Anna Wintour positively glowed in her original take on the classic floral gown, as she should have, whereas Cara would have looked more at home in the Chinese mob... and not in a bad way.

Dree Hemingway had one of the freshest takes on the red carpet, because who else would wear a biker jacket to the Met Gala? I can't mention all of the rest but props go to Sienna Miller for looking like a Spanish Matador after emigrating to China (and all the better for it), Jessica Hart for her breathtaking Valentino gown and Jamie Bochert, for, as usual, completely ignoring all the rules. Spectacular.

Winners of the night: Sarah Jessica Parker for her Philip Treacy hat, Solange for the greatest take on the theme and Jenna Lyons for doing the Met Gala the only way the creative director of J.Crew could; in silk pyjamas.

Honourable mentions: Anne Hathaway, for wearing the most bizarrely misplaced yet fabulous ode to Star Wars ever seen on a red carpet and Hailey Baldwin, who looked so much like an Oriental stripper that Vogue.com literally cut out her shoes from their photo. Plus Chloƫ Sevigny and Georgia May Jagger for totally embracing the theme.

Disgraced: Katy Perry and Madonna for letting Jeremy Scott dress them and continue to tarnish what the word 'couturier' truly stands for.
